Ardmore Legacy

Ardmore Legacy is the current interpretation of the traditional Highland single malt from the Ardmore distillery. It was introduced in 2014 as the successor to the "Ardmore Traditional" edition, and although it is not a 12-year-old expression, it carries a subtle peaty note that has become a characteristic feature of this brand.

Whisky Ardmore Legacy is made from a combination of malt - approximately 80% peated (peated malt) and 20% unpeated (unpeated malt), achieving a balance between smoke and softer tones.

The edition uses typical casks, including the so-called quarter casks, which provide greater wood contact with the distillate and influence the spicy and oaky elements in the profile.

Peat from the Highlands is used, which adds a subtle smokiness, but this smoky note is more delicate than dominant. The whisky is bottled at 40% ABV.

On the nose, Ardmore Legacy presents more of a "salty/spicy" style than purely sweet: gentle barbecue smoke, earthy tone, cinnamon, honey, and vanilla caramel intertwine in the background. At times, a note of heather honey emerges.

On the palate, a more pronounced smoky note (coal smoke), dry oak, drops of pear, and gentle grassy tones are evident. After a while, citrus peel and heather flower appear, adding contrast. The finish is relatively long, with peaty smoke, dry spiciness, and a touch of honeyed barley.

It is best enjoyed neat at room temperature. If you add a few drops of water, the smoky note may open up and the sweet tones (honey, vanilla) may emerge. Due to its combination of smoke and sweet component, it serves as an introduction to peaty whiskies for those looking for a milder entry.
