Scapa Skiren
Scapa Skiren is produced at the Scapa distillery on the island of Mainland, Orkney (northern Scotland). Distillation takes place in the only remaining functioning Lomond wash still – a unique type of still that no longer has adjustable reflector plates. Scapa uses water from Lingro Burn, which is piped in to minimise contact with peat and thus achieve a smoother flavour without a dominant smokiness.
This whisky is non-age-statement (NAS), which means that the exact age is not stated. After distillation, it is matured exclusively in first-fill American oak casks, which give it sweet notes of vanilla, honey and creaminess.
Its flavour profile is very smooth, slightly tropical and honeyed. The nose reveals notes of honey, cream, apples, tropical fruit, aniseed and delicate nuts. The palate continues with honeyed sweetness, pears, lemon zest, vanilla, delicate spice and hints of oak.
The finish is medium-long, sweet with a persistent oak note, sometimes with a hint of dried heather. It is a very delicate whisky – light, accessible, suitable even for those who prefer a more delicate style.
It can be served neat, or with a drop of water, which further enhances the creamy and vanilla notes.
The bottles are filled with 40 % alcohol by volume, have a capacity of 0,7 l and are supplied in gift boxes.
