Old Monk Gold Reserve 12 Year Old is a premium version of the iconic Indian rum that embodies tradition, depth, and character. It ages for a minimum of 12 years in oak barrels, gaining a significantly more complex flavor profile than its younger 7-year-old sibling. Made from molasses, this dark rum retains its natural mahogany color and authentic character without artificial additives.
The aroma is dominated by a combination of vanilla, caramel, and roasted nuts, complemented by notes of tropical fruit, molasses, and hints of dark chocolate. Subtle spicy undertones, such as cinnamon, clove, and even a hint of coriander, pleasantly enhance its aromatic richness.
The taste is full and harmonious – it opens with a sweet onset of burnt caramel, molasses, and syrup, accompanied by notes of bitter chocolate, dried fruit, and vanilla. Gradually, subtle smoky and spicy nuances emerge, giving the rum character and balance between sweetness and dryness.
