Malecon Selección Esplendida 1987 is a rare Panamanian vintage rum, distilled exclusively from 1987 and aged for decades in ex-bourbon barrels. This rum masterpiece is extremely limited and packaged in an exclusive wooden box — a must-have piece for collectors and lovers of refined spirits.
The rum was distilled in Panama following Cuban tradition from molasses in a column still and all its components come exclusively from the 1987 vintage - it is a vintage product with no added colors. It then aged for decades in ex-bourbon barrels, where it developed a deep and complex character.
In the aroma, you will discover notes of toasted coffee, exotic fruits, vanilla, candied fruits, maple-cherry fondant, and buttery praline. The taste is soft, warm, and slightly sweet, with layers of vanilla, apricot, banana, with hints of tobacco and chocolate. The finish is exceptionally long, spicy, elegant, with notes of brown spices, raisins, and hazelnuts or Latte macchiato.
This rum is ideal for slow sipping neat, with large ice or in a Glencairn glass, to fully enjoy its complexity and texture.
