Luxardo Maraschino
Luxardo Maraschino is an iconic Italian cherry liqueur that represents the classic art of liqueur production by Luxardo. This traditional liqueur is made from Marasca cherries, which Luxardo grows in its own orchards in the Veneto region of northern Italy. Thanks to the use of this specific variety of cherries, the liqueur acquires a distinctive aroma and unique flavor profile.
Unlike many sweet liqueurs, Luxardo Maraschino is made by distilling the juice of Marasca cherries, which gives it an authentic and natural character. After distillation, the distillate ages for about 2 years in wooden barrels made of white Finnish ash, contributing to its pronounced aromatic intensity and harmonious taste.
The result is an elegant liqueur with a subtly sweet cherry character that retains its typical distillation base and a surprisingly long and balanced finish. Luxardo Maraschino is also known for its distinctive bottle wrapped in straw, which has become an iconic symbol of the brand.
This liqueur is among the classic ingredients of global cocktail culture. It is used in cocktails such as Mary Pickford, Daiquiri, or Cuba Libre, where it adds a delicate cherry aroma and complexity to the drinks.
However, Luxardo Maraschino has a wide range of uses in gastronomy as well. It is excellent as a digestif after meals, but also in pastry and desserts. Traditionally, it is used in fruit salads, strawberries, oranges, or pineapples, or when preparing homemade sweets and desserts.
