Islay single malt whisky Finlaggan Page 1 of 1

Islay Island, known as the “kingdom of peat”, is home to the most distinctive character whisky in all of Scotland. Its single malts are intense, smoky, and full of sea – you can literally feel their origin in every drop. For lovers of Scottish single malt whisky, Islay represents a completely separate world.

Smoke, peat, and sea – Islay's signature

Islay whisky is distinguished by its unmistakable aroma of peat, which is created by drying barley over a peat fire. The flavor combines smoke, iodine, sea salt, citrus, and a gentle sweetness of malt. Every sip is a reminder of the rugged coastline, wind-swept cliffs, and the scent of the sea.

Diversity within the island

Although Islay whiskies are known for their smokiness, each distillery has its own signature – some offer a softer, sweeter style, while others go for extremely peaty tones. This diversity makes Islay a fascinating area worth exploring again and again.
