Habitation Velier Rainforest 2024 is a Filipino Pure Single Rum from Rainforest Distillers, located in the Bukidnon region on the island of Mindanao. The distillery was founded by master distiller Marc Schulze, known as the creator of the craft rum Kasa Kaña Rum Agrikultura. This edition marks the first collaboration between Rainforest Distillers and the Habitation Velier project.
The rum is made from freshly pressed juice of the local Manpu sugarcane, not from molasses. Fermentation lasts 9 to 12 days and also utilizes dunder and muck, which help create its intense and distinctive aromatic character. Distillation occurs exclusively in a pot still.
The 2024 vintage then aged 20 months in a tropical climate in Chardonnay white wine casks. It is bottled at 58% strength without added sugar, colorants, or cold filtration. The result is a fresh, concentrated rum with a pronounced expression of sugarcane, tropical fruits, herbs, and a subtle influence of the wine cask. It shines best when enjoyed neat during a slow tasting.
