Gran Duque de Alba XO
This exceptional brandy Gran Duque de Alba XO is the result of a blend of various soleras Gran Duque de Alba with deep reserves from the Oro series. It ages using the traditional criaderas y soleras system in American oak casks, which previously contained sherry Don Guido (Pedro Ximénez) with a certified age of 20 years. The average aging process lasts about 18 years, resulting in a very old and rich blend.
The color ranges from old mahogany to dark ebony, with a high shine, indicating the rich content of the brandy. The aroma is intense, with notes of raisins, plums, fresh grapes, and vanilla, possibly hints of "antique furniture polish," typical of the long aging of brandy.
On the palate, the brandy is complex and majestic – oily, velvety, and very long. Dominant notes of nuts, oak, creamy vanilla finish with lingering persistence.
The name of this noble brand refers to the Duke of Alba from 1945, born at Williams & Humbert in Jerez de la Frontera (a company founded in 1877). This distillery is one of the most significant in the region and is responsible for the peak quality of brandy de Jerez. The XO designation emphasizes the exceptionally long aging (min. 6 years for classic XO, but here up to 18 years average age).
