Description

Issue No. 2, the second in the Icons of Campbeltown series, is inspired by the signage depicting St. Michael, the courageous archangel who heroically slayed a fire-breathing dragon with his spear.

In celebration of this mythical story, this unique 14 year old single malt whisky has been released with a medium peated strength. Bold sea salinity and smoky peat are beautifully balanced by the gorgeous sweetness of candied red fruits, enriched after six months in Barolo's finest red wine casks.

The Icons of Campbeltown series pays tribute to the Campbeltown community that has ensured Glen Scotia's preeminence in history. Taking inspiration from the Campbeltown Market Cross - a historic gathering place for the community to celebrate and tell stories, with a series of saints and animals carved into its stone face -each release commemorates the story of the spirit of the local community.

Issue 2 is inspired by St Michael, who, with the support of an army of well-wishers, slays a fire-breathing dragon. In the Victorian heyday of whiskey production in Campbeltown, there were predatory fires that claimed several of the town's distilleries and devastated them. On December 17, 1899, Glen Scotia, along with heroic members of the community, battled a powerful fire at the Dalintober distillery and saved it from an unfortunate fate. In Campbeltown you will find no living saints or dragon slayers, only a community that, through a prevailing spirit of unity, endures in the face of adversity.

To celebrate this mythical story, Master Blender has selected this medium peated 14 year old single malt whisky. The smoky character intertwined with layers of fruit, spice and subtle sea saltiness leaves no one in doubt as to which distillery this limited release comes from.

The illustrations on the label and gift carton were done by Joel Holtzman, an illustrator and conceptual artist based in the Netherlands. He has worked on some of the world's most popular fantasy resources for Marvel, Macmillan Publishing, Disney and LucasFilm, among others.

Whiskies that warm you up – a selection of smoky and autumnal single malt whiskies
The time is coming when evenings are getting longer and the wind is starting to bite. This is exactly the time for something that will warm not only the body but also the soul. And although autumn can be survived with just tea and a blanket, sometimes something stronger is needed, something with a little smoke and a lot of character: Scottish whisky. This is the time of year when heavier or peaty…

Punch – The Drink That Brings the World Together Punch has a long history and remains a symbol of friendship, warmth, and social gatherings. Its name comes from the Indian word pañch (“five”) – referring to the five basic ingredients: alcohol, sugar, citrus, water, and spices. The drink made its way to Europe in the 17th century through merchants of the British East India Company and quickly…
