Glen Scotia 14 Year Old Icons of Campbeltown Release No.2
Release No. 2, the second in the series Icons of Campbeltown, is inspired by the depiction of Saint Michael, the brave archangel who heroically slayed the fire-breathing dragon with his spear.
To celebrate this mythical tale, this unique 14-year-old single malt whisky with a medium peat content has been released. Bold maritime salinity and smoky peat are beautifully balanced by the exquisite sweetness of candied red fruits, enriched after six months in the finest Barolo red wine casks.
The Icons of Campbeltown series pays tribute to the community in Campbeltown, which ensured Glen Scotia's prominence in history. We draw inspiration from the cross at Campbeltown Market Cross - a historic gathering place for the community during celebrations and storytelling, into whose stone face a row of saints and animals is carved - and each release reminds us of the spirit of the local community.
Release No. 2 is inspired by Saint Michael, who, with the support of an army of supporters, slays the fire-breathing dragon. During the Victorian era, when whisky production flourished in Campbeltown, fierce fires claimed several local distilleries and devastated them. On December 17, 1899, Glen Scotia, along with heroic community members, fought a fierce fire at the Dalintober distillery and saved it from a tragic fate. In Campbeltown, you won't find any living saints or dragon slayers, just a community that, thanks to the prevailing spirit of unity, endures despite adversity.
To celebrate this mythical tale, the Master Blender selected this medium-peated 14-year-old single malt whisky. The smoky character interwoven with layers of fruit, spice, and gentle maritime salinity leaves no doubt as to which distillery this limited edition comes from.
The label and gift box illustrations were created by Joel Holtzman, an illustrator and conceptual artist based in the Netherlands. He has worked on some of the world's most popular fantasy sources, including for Marvel, Macmillan Publishing, Disney, and LucasFilm.
