Cubaney Estupendo 15 is a Dominican dark rum that ages for approximately 15 years using the traditional Solera method. It is distilled from molasses of high-quality sugarcane and then matures in a combination of ex-bourbon barrels made of American oak and French ex-wine barrels, allowing for a rich aromatic profile and the terroir of tropical islands.
Visually, it has a light chestnut to mahogany color, indicating deep and mature tones. Upon the first sniff, you will notice an intense aroma of oak wood, followed by vanilla, caramel, and roasted nuts, especially almonds – these scents are supported by subtle fruity accents of tropical dried fruits.
The taste of Cubaney 15 is balanced and complex – caramel with the sweetness of sugarcane intertwines with roasted almonds and a lightly spicy note. Some reviews also point to hints of apricots or dried fruits, a pleasantly elegant and mature flavor that closes slowly and gently, with a sweet finish and a light oak warmth.
The aging policy of Solera means that the age information (“15 years”) indicates the average age of the component rums, which is in accordance with Dominican regulations. However, some consumers note the high sweetness and relatively low emphasis on a more complex flavor, which they believe may characterize the rum more as a sweet mixed drink than as a complex distillate.
Bottles are filled with an alcohol content of 38% with a volume of 0.7 l and are delivered in gift cartons.
