The story of the founders Oliver & Oliver begins with the name Juanillo Oliver in the mid-nineteenth century. After his military service, Juanillo engaged in the idyllic Las Placetas of Cuba in 1868, where he and his family grew tobacco and sugar cane for themselves and local farmers. Soon the name Oliver was synonymous with cigars and the remarkable Cuban craft rum Cubaney.

However, the War of Independence ended the glory of the Oliver family. In 1898, the farms were destroyed and the iconic mills of the Oliver family stopped grinding. After a while, Juanillo returned to his farm, where he resumed crop production, and the Oliver family continued the tradition until Cuba was again shaken by the revolution.
