Zafra Master Reserve is a luxurious Panamanian rum made from molasses using a small distillation column aged for a minimum of 21 years in ex-bourbon barrels.
Named after the Spanish word for sugarcane harvest.
Zafra, crafted by a former rum master of Havana Club, is a pleasantly rich yet intriguingly dry rum with an excellently velvety mouthfeel and great balance.
In the glass, dark yellow color with a clear aging character and hints of floral notes along with plenty of delicate vanilla and caramel. This rum, with its suggested sweetness and complexity, pairs wonderfully with cigars.
On the nose, dried stone and tropical citrus fruits, melted caramel, vanilla, mossy river stone, and spiced cake reveal the distinct quality of the bourbon barrel and continue with a smooth, satin entry into a dry yet fruity medium-full body with excellent depth.
The finish features a long, unfolding cascade of tobacco, leather, cocoa, cedar, nuts, and earthy nuances. An elegant, seamless aged rum for contemplative sipping or top-shelf cocktails. 95 points from Beverage Testing Institute Rating.
Bottles are filled with an alcohol content of 40% with a volume of 0.7 l.
