Yellowstone Special Finishes Collection: Toasted is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon, which builds on the classic profile of the Yellowstone brand and adds a new layer of complexity through clever aging in toasted wooden staves.
This bourbon has 50% alcohol and is the first edition of the “Special Finishes” series, which explores what happens when bourbon aged in the standard way undergoes special finishing on wooden elements.
This bourbon is produced in the USA, Kentucky, at the Limestone Branch Distillery. It is made from the standard mash bill of the Yellowstone brand: primarily corn, with added rye and malted barley. The bourbon ages for approximately 4 years in oak barrels, followed by a finish using a combination of five different toasted wooden staves: High Toast, American Oak Double Toast, High Vanilla, Rickhouse, and Spice Rack staves. These additional woods contribute extra character, color, and aroma.
The aroma reveals notes of toasted caramel, vanilla, and autumn spices, with a subtle hint of cinnamon. On the palate, the flavor develops with walnuts, caramel, black tea, and white pepper. The finish brings chocolate notes, tobacco, and a clean oak impression. The body is medium-full, and the 50% alcohol provides a stronger foundation while remaining well-integrated.
We recommend serving it best neat or with a few drops of water to open up the delicate notes of charred wood. A tulip glass or Glencairn will enhance the aromas. It can also serve as an interesting bourbon for mixed cocktails, where you want the woody and spicy notes to complement the other ingredients.
