Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label in a carton
Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin is a French champagne house based in Reims, specializing in premium products. The company was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron. Veuve Clicquot plays an important role in establishing champagne as a favorite drink of the bourgeoisie and nobility throughout Europe. In 1811, Veuve Clicquot was considered the first truly "modern" champagne due to the innovative technique of remuage (riddling the sediment formed during secondary fermentation in the bottles towards the neck of the bottle; the sediment is then removed by disgorging). Veuve Clicquot Brut is a dry champagne, blended from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grape varieties, sourced from the Champagne region.
