Teeling Single Grain
Irish whiskey made from a single grain by Teeling! There are currently only a few elite Irish whiskeys made from a single grain (Single Grain), but Teeling went even further and made them unique by aging them in Californian Cabernet Sauvignon barrels. Telling Single Grain has a pleasantly sweet taste with a necessary dose of spice and fruit.
Teeling Single Grain uses an unorthodox composition - mainly corn (95 %) with malted barley (5 %), and distillation takes place continuously in column stills.
It is then aged exclusively in ex-Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from California, giving it a distinctive red fruit profile with a softer tannin structure. It is triple distilled, without the use of a cooling filtration process, and bottled at 46 % ABV.
The whiskey is rich in aromas of red grapes, berries, delicate spices, and sweetness. The taste is silky smooth, with a combination of sweet fruit and tannins, ending with a drier, shorter finish.
Reviewers also describe distinct notes of honey, condensed milk, caramel, dried cranberries, and a mixture of tropical fruits and spices. The finish is tannic and drier, but invites another sip.
Teeling Single Grain is not an overly complex whiskey, but it is very pleasant, elegant, and addictive.
