Matusalem Gran Reserva 23 Enigma French Oak

Matusalem Gran Reserva 23 Enigma French Oak is a Dominican rum produced using the traditional solera method, where rums of different ages are blended to create a stable and balanced flavor profile. Enigma represents an edition that emphasizes the influence of wood during aging. The rum ages in ex-Bordeaux French oak barrels, which previously held red wines from the Bordeaux region. This type of barrel imparts a different character than standard ex-bourbon barrels, placing greater emphasis on dryness, structure, and subtle wine notes.

Aging in French oak is particularly evident in notes of vanilla, spice, nuts, and fine wood, without pronounced sweetness. The rum is drier, balanced, and especially suitable for slow sipping. Thanks to the combination of the solera system and French oak, it offers an interesting alternative to sweeter Caribbean rums and is a good choice for those seeking a rum with a more pronounced barrel influence and controlled sweetness.

Matusalem Gran Reserva 23 Enigma French Oak is intended for connoisseurs as well as those looking to shift their rum tasting towards a drier and woodier style, akin to cognac or aged whisky.
