The production of Kahlúa is a time-consuming process. From growing coffee cherries in the shade (which take up to 6 years to ripen), through harvesting, drying, and resting, to roasting, distilling rum from sugarcane juice, and final blending. Coffee beans and rum meet at the distillery after 7 years, then rest together for 4 weeks to develop their characteristic flavor. That’s why it is said that Kahlúa is worth the wait.
