The story of Kahlúa began in 1936 in the Mexican state of Veracruz, where two entrepreneurs, Senior Blanco and Montalvo Lara, met with the Alvarez brothers. They combined their experiences, regional coffee, and created a unique product among coffee liqueurs.

The name Kahlúa itself comes from Arabic languages and means "coffee." It is made from 100% Arabica coffee beans and quality rum. Shortly after its inception, Kahlúa became a popular liqueur not only in Mexico but also in the USA, where it was exported since 1940.

Kahlúa has become an icon of cocktail culture. It is the base of legendary drinks. In the 1970s, Kahlúa gained popularity in the form of the layered B-52 shot, and in the 1980s, the drink Espresso Martini drove people crazy while also becoming the best-selling coffee liqueur in the world. Its popularity was further boosted by original advertising campaigns, female brand leadership in the 1960s, and its iconic connection to the film industry in the 1990s. The cocktail White Russian became a cult drink thanks to the movie The Big Lebowski.

Prepare the popular drink from the 1980s - Espresso Martini. You will need 50 ml of vodka, 1 strong espresso made from specialty coffee, 30 ml of Kahlúa liqueur, and 10 ml of sugar syrup. Shake everything well in a cocktail shaker with ice and strain into a martini glass.
