Illy Intenso 250g

Illy Intenso (formerly known as "Black") is a blend of 100% Arabica coffee sourced from several selected regions including Ethiopia, Colombia, Brazil, South America, and India. Each bean is carefully selected – Illy claims to use only the best 1% of Arabica on the market.

The roast is significantly dark, which gives the coffee an intense flavor. Production and packaging take place in Italy, in Trieste, into hermetically sealed cans filled with inert gas – allowing Illy to preserve its aroma for up to two years.

Intenso lives up to its name – a pronounced, full-bodied, and robust flavor with deep notes of cocoa, dried fruit and hints of chocolate or toasted bread. Acidity is low, bitterness is pronounced, and sweetness is moderate (~6/10 according to sales pages). Caffeine content is medium (maximum 1.5%).

Illy Intenso is suitable for espresso, but also for moka pots, French press, filter, or lungo preparations. It is said to shine best in vacuum-packed form – specially roasted for moka pots or other methods where darker roasting fully develops the flavor potential.
