Gran Duque de Alba Oro
Brandy Gran Duque de Alba Oro is produced using the traditional Jerez criaderas y soleras system at Williams & Humbert (since 1877). The distillates are made from holandas (distillates) from Palomino and Airén grapes and aged for approximately 25 years in American oak barrels that were previously filled with Palo Cortado sherry. The average age is around 20 years, with proven processes ensuring consistent high quality.
The colour of the brandy ranges from antique mahogany to black cherry ebony, with a bright sheen. The aroma is dominated by intense notes of vanilla and forest leaves with a subtle sweet tone, making it one of the ‘most characteristic aromas of long ageing’. On the palate, the brandy is complex and majestic, with a creamy, oily, velvety finish evoking nuts, wood and vanilla.
The name Gran Duque de Alba dates back to 1945, when Fernando Álvarez de Toledo agreed to name the brandy in honour of his ancestor, the Grand Duke of Alba. Production takes place at Williams & Humbert, a family business in Jerez de la Frontera with more than 130 years of tradition in producing top-quality sherry and brandy. The ‘Oro’ label indicates the highest level of maturation in the Solera Gran Reserva category, recognised by the regulatory authority and the Brandy de Jerez association.
The bottles are filled with 40 % alcohol by volume, have a volume of 0,7 l and are supplied in gift boxes.
