Devín is a modern Slovak variety of white wine, bred in 1958 by crossing Tramín červený and Veltlínske červeno-biele. It is an aromatic variety that has gained exceptional popularity in recent years for its complex aroma, harmonious taste, and wide processing possibilities – from dry to sweet ice, straw, or botrytized wines.

Characteristics of the Berries and Taste of Devín

The berries of Devín are yellow-green, medium-sized and have a naturally high aromatic potential. In both aroma and taste, notes of roses, honey, raisins, and tropical fruits such as lychee and subtle spicy nuances inherited from Tramín appear. In dry versions, Devín is fresh and fruity, while semi-sweet and sweet styles highlight its honeyed, floral notes. The Devín variety is also excellent for late harvest or ice wine, where it can showcase its fullness and beautiful aromatic depth.
