Gin Citadelle Réserve is the rebirth of golden gin! In 2008, a man named Alexander Gabriel caused a sensation by offering the world this aged version of gin that hadn’t been seen for a good century.
After several years of experimentation, he perfected his recipe by adding 3 types of botanicals – Asian citrus fruit yuzu, alpine wormwood génépi, and forget-me-not, as well as aging consisting of 5 months resting in barrels made from 5 types of wood (in acacia, mulberry, cherry, walnut, and French oak barrels). In the final aging phase, the gin from the individual barrels is blended and transferred to an elliptical oak barrel that is up to 2.45 m tall. This thoughtful aging process is reflected in the harmonious and delicate flavor. Gin Citadelle Réserve is the only alcoholic beverage produced in France using this avant-garde method, which intensifies the citrus notes of the gin and evokes an elegantly smooth mouthfeel.
It’s a gin made for mixing the classic Gin Martini!
