The Citadelle distillery has its historical roots dating back to 1775 when it received the privilege to produce gin at the fortress in Dunkirk, northern France. Gin was distilled using traditional methods in copper stills at that time, laying the foundation for the craft quality that the brand builds upon to this day.

Craft Production of Citadelle Gin

The modern version of Citadelle Gin is produced in southwestern France, maintaining the original recipe inspired by historical methods. The gin is created from a combination of 19 carefully selected botanicals from various parts of the world. Distillation takes place over an open flame in small copper stills, allowing for precise control over the aroma and flavor profile. The result is an elegant gin with a distinct yet harmonious character.

The flagship of the portfolio is the classic Citadelle Gin, known for its freshness, citrus notes, and balanced juniper base. A summer, more aromatic interpretation is represented by Citadelle Jardin d'été, which offers a softer, fruitier profile with floral hints. An interesting alternative is the barrel-aged gin Citadelle No Mistake Old Tom Gin, which combines the gentle sweetness of the Old Tom style with the complexity of wood aging.
