Caol Ila The Distillers Edition 2022

Caol Ila Distillers Edition 2022 belongs to the Distillers Edition of the Single Malts of Scotland. Since 1997, bottles have been released annually in this series with individually selected casks and a two-stage maturation process.

Distillers Edition is a collection of master craftsmanship. Each cask in this series is individually selected and perfectly matched to the character of each of the single malt whiskies refined here.

The two-stage maturation process adds greater depth and complexity, which is the idea behind this limited edition: preserving the excellence of single malt whiskies that have already been praised for their exceptional flavours. Selected flavour nuances are more strongly accentuated in a way not found in ordinary bottlings, while fully preserving the original character of these fine single malt whiskies.

This excellent Caol Ila whisky was first matured in American and European oak casks. The second maturation was completed in moscatel-flavoured, re-charred American oak casks with heavily charred new AO ends.

This gold edition Caol Ila is brilliant, fresh and refined. The deep, sweet and smoky flavor profile reflects the intense, rich colors of the late afternoon sun after a thunderstorm.

Caol Ila, founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson near Port Askaig on the island of Islay, means 'Sound of Islay' in Gaelic. One of the reasons for its location was to provide a source of fresh water, and since then water has been important in many ways - the waterfall has supplied power for barley hoists and pressure for fire hydrants.

Since 2002, Caol Ila has been regularly recognized worldwide at the most prestigious events.

The bottles are filled at 43 % alcohol with a volume of 0,7 l. They are supplied in gift cartons.
