The Botran Family is commonly known for producing sugarcane in Guatemala, but in 1939 they decided to embark on a journey by founding Industria Licorera Quetzalteca. The five brothers agreed that the ultimate place for aging rum in Guatemala is Quetzaltenango.
Since that day, they have been involved in every detail of rum production. Although the care process has evolved, it all began with a care process called “Sistema Solera." This process involves the integration of young and old rums, as they age for years in white oak barrels. They are the first family to produce Guatemalan rum and continue to craft one of the world's highest quality rums. The high-quality rums Solera 1893 and Reserva have received numerous global awards for their complexity, depth, and distinctive sweet flavor.
