The Norwegian brand Bareksten was founded by Stig Bareksten due to an incredible passion for soulful alcoholic beverages. In the 1990s, he studied at the BAS bartending school in London and subsequently worked as a bartender in Oslo, where he gained skills. However, he spent most of his time traveling, visiting producers, talking to distillers, and experimenting with the knowledge he acquired.

During his bartending years, when he also worked as a brand ambassador in the industry, he was able to visit numerous distilleries around the world. He was always interested in the story behind the brands and how the ingredients and production methods influence the taste of the product. For many years, he distilled all kinds of flowers and roots in his own kitchen.

Finally, in 2015, he discovered an abandoned biofuel factory right next to Flesland Airport in his hometown of Bergen and established his own business. The development of the first product, Oss Craft Distillery, took almost five years before its market launch. By the time Bareksten Gin was found and Stig finally dared to put his name on the bottles, at least 250 distillations! had taken place.
