Aultmore Ruby Marsala Cask 15 Year Old

Limited Edition single malt whisky Aultmore Ruby Marsala Cask Finish comes from the Scottish region Speyside. The whisky ages for 15 years – initially in American oak barrels and at the end of maturation, it was stored for six months in barrels that previously held Ruby Marsala Rubino Dolce wine from Italy.

The result is an elegant whisky that combines the softness of the classic Aultmore profile with interesting wine/fruit notes.

In color, it appears as a shiny amber whisky with honey and golden reflections – indicating maturity and sweet notes. The aroma is dominated by red fruits: cherries, plums, possibly pomegranate, supported by gentle spices, vanilla, and oak. Ruby Marsala casks also add tannins and a wine accent, which blends with sweet malt and honey.

The taste is rich and fruity, with the sweetness of cherries and plums, a lingering mild acidity, and the wine character of Marsala. It is accompanied by notes of honey, vanilla, gentle spices – especially white pepper, maybe a hint of cinnamon. Notes of oak or lightly toasted wood may come in the background, adding complexity.

Alcohol 46% is well integrated – strong enough for the whisky's body to be full, yet not too aggressive.

We recommend serving it ideally neat, at room temperature in a glass (e.g., Glencairn), to allow the aroma to develop; a few drops of water can help open up the wine and fruit notes. It also serves excellently as a digestif, or during a quiet tasting. It can also be an interesting complement to dark chocolate or dried fruits.
