What is XO rum?

XO (Extra Old) refers to premium rums that are usually aged for a minimum of 6–8 years, but often for 10 or more years in oak barrels. Unlike cognac, there is no single legal definition for XO rums, so the exact age can vary depending on the producer and country of origin. However, they are united by a long maturation period and an emphasis on quality.

What do XO rums taste like?

Aged XO rums bring a complex flavor with notes of vanilla, caramel, dried fruit, wood and spices. They are smooth, rounded and ideal for slow sipping at room temperature, without ice or with just a little water.
