Unhiq XO is a dark rum made from molasses from the Dominican Republic. It's typically a sweeter rum due to the addition of honey and sweet ingredients that make it unique.
Unhiq is made from 72 % distillate and blended with a 'lighter' spirit of around 90 % alcohol before being matured in ex-bourbon and ex-whiskey barrels for 31 years using the Solera method.
The producer gives 1982 as the year in which the rum was distilled. The nose is very aromatic of nutmeg, dried fruits such as prunes and figs, with notes of vanilla and almonds, coconut and sugar cane. It's a flavour explosion, bursting with notes of vanilla, roasted coffee beans and bourbon, as well as a more subtle hint of cinnamon.
This is a limited production of 6500 litres for the entire world market and each bottle is numbered.
The bottles are bottled at 42 % alcohol with a 0,5 l capacity and come in luxury gift boxes.
