The first Borovička which matured in barrels!
We keep telling ourselves that nothing will surprise us anymore. However, every time we find out that we were in a big mistake! The BVD brand recently introduced a complete novelty - borovička distillate. Yes, distillate! Unlike other alcohol-based pines, BVD has developed in modern history the first Slovak distillate-based borovička made from the fruits of the juniper.
However, this distillery does not laze and raises the bar higher again. Forget about foreign vintage whiskeys! The BVD distillery introduced the world's first premium juniper and grain distillate, which was matured in barrels.
In 2015, the borovička was distilled and stored for 6 years in oak barrels after Cabernet Sauvignon red wine. During this time, there was a slight volatilization of alcohol through the pores of the wood. The price for maturing in barrels is called the Angels' Share. On average in Slovakia, up to 1% of the total volume can evaporate in one year.
It was thoroughly tasted every year and finally, after 6 years, BVD Borovička Oak Aged saw the light of day. It is handcrafted, without alcohol, artificial colors and flavors. There are only a limited 777 pieces in the special edition, which will be repeated only once every 6 years.
It has a beautiful bronze color with a beautiful aroma and great taste of raisins, junipers, smoke and bitumen.
