Suze
Suze is a traditional aperitif made from gentian root, known for its distinct bitterness and aromatic herbal character. This iconic drink originated in Switzerland, but gradually gained popularity, especially in France, where it became one of the classic aperitifs.
The Suze brand has been known for generations for its original recipe and traditional production method, which combines gentian root with various aromatic plants. This combination creates a characteristic flavor profile with a delicate rbalance between bitterness and herbal freshness.
In 1885, the original Swiss recipe was sold to French entrepreneur Fernand Moureaux, who began producing the liqueur in France and gradually made it one of the most famous French aperitifs.
Suze has a lower alcohol content (15%), making it ideal for a light aperitif. It is most commonly served neat with ice, with tonic, or as part of cocktails, where its distinct bitterness adds an interesting character to the drinks.
