Speyburn is a traditional Scottish single malt whisky from the Speyside region, which is considered the heart of Scottish whisky. The distillery, founded in 1897, still maintains an authentic approach to production and draws water from the pure source of Granty Burn, which gives the whisky its characteristic freshness.

The Speyburn distillery was established in 1897 by brothers John and Edward Hopkins, with John Hopkins & Company as the main investor, who was also the owner of the well-known Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull at the time. Speyburn was created in honor of the 60th anniversary of Queen Victoria's reign, and thus its first batch of whisky was successfully filled into barrels in December 1897 – literally at the last moment before the end of the jubilee year.

The building was designed by renowned distillery architect Charles C. Doig, who gave it the characteristic pagoda roof, now typical for many Scottish distilleries.

Speyburn uses water from the Granty Burn spring, which is a tributary of the River Spey. This water source is considered one of the purest in the region and gives the whisky a fresh, light character.

The distillery is equipped with traditional copper pot stills and has an annual capacity of approximately 4.5 million liters of alcohol. The whisky primarily matures in bourbon and sherry casks, which gives it a balance between sweetness, vanilla notes, and subtle fruitiness.

Speyburn is one of the best-selling single malt whiskies in the USA in the "value for money" category – that is, quality whisky at an affordable price. The distillery is relatively small and unassuming, but thanks to its classic Speyside style, it has found a stable following around the world. The name “Bradan Orach” (one of the editions) refers to the salmon, which is a symbol of the River Spey – the heart of the Speyside region.

Speyburn is a distillery that may not stand in the spotlight like Macallan or Glenfiddich, but it offers an authentic and accessible face of Speyside whisky. Its light, fresh, and fruity character is suitable for anyone looking for a pure, classic style of Scottish single malt – all while remaining at an affordable price point.
