Sheep Dip Blended Malt
Sheep Dip is a Scottish blended malt whiskey created by mixing up to 16 single malts . In particular, single malt whiskeys from Highland are blended with fine whiskeys from Speyside and smoky whiskeys from the Islay region.
Why the name Sheep Dip? Scottish farmers wanted to avoid paying taxes on their own homemade spirits, so they began to label their whiskey barrels with a large "Sheep Dip" (sheep insecticide for parasites). No official would dare to take and taste such a liquid.
