Sheep Dip is a Scottish blended malt whisky created by mixing up to 12 single malts. Primarily, single malt whiskies from the Highlands are blended with smooth whiskies from Speyside and smoky ones from the Islay region.
Why the name Sheep Dip? Scottish farmers wanted to avoid paying taxes on their own homemade spirits, so they began labeling their whisky barrels with the large inscription "Sheep Dip" (a sheep insecticide for parasites). No official would dare to sample such a liquid.
