Presidente Martí Gran Añejo is a premium Dominican rum inspired by the heritage of Cuban “maestros roneros” and the traditional aging method Solera. It is made using molasses and rums of medium to long aging, which undergo several aging stages in carefully selected barrels.
The rums in this blend age in ex-bourbon barrels, which provide notes of vanilla and caramel, and subsequently in selected ex-sherry barrels, which add a deeper fruity, subtly wine-like character.
The result is a harmonious, rich, yet smooth flavor that is typical of rums from the Dominican Republic, but with a hint of Spanish style.
The aroma reveals notes of caramel, raisins, chocolate, candied fruit, gentle oak, and sweet vanilla.
The taste is full and elegant – dark caramel, honey, chocolate, dried plums, roasted nuts, gentle spiciness and soft woody notes.
The finish is long, sweet, gentle, with tones of chocolate, honey, and raisins.
This rum is excellent for sipping neat, on the rocks, but also as a luxurious base for rum cocktails like Old Fashioned or Rum Manhattan.
