Pogues Irish Whiskey
The official Irish whiskey of the legendary band The Pogues. It is produced only in small batches. Only barley and spring water from the Emerald Islands are used in its production. It has a pleasant smooth and bold taste. A unique combination of a rebellious band and the most innovative independent distillery in Ireland.
This whiskey was created as a unique project by the legendary folk-punk band The Pogues and West Cork Distillers in Skibbereen, in western Cork. The blend is a mixture of Irish blended whiskeys, with a high proportion of malt, produced in small batches and designed to be exceptionally smooth and versatile – neat, on the rocks or in drinks.
In terms of composition, some sources state that it is not the same product as 50 % single malt + 50 % single grain with 10 years vs. 5 - 7 years of ageing, but there is no information about blending with exact proportions and casks (ex-sherry, ex-bourbon) does exist – it is an interesting variant, but more officially and frequently mentioned is a general blend in small batches with malt and spring water.
The aroma and taste of the whiskey is delicately malty with notes of nuts, chocolate and caramel, complemented by citrus, dried fruit and spicy sweetness with a pleasantly smooth finish.
Pogues Irish Whiskey is exceptionally versatile – it excels neat, on the rocks, or as an interesting element in cocktails (such as Irish coffee), where its smooth character and rich flavour beautifully complement the mix.
