Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and Rose-Adélaïde Jouët shared a love of nature and art. She was a cultivated young woman from a Norman merchant's family, he was a masterful viticulturist and botanist. A year after their marriage, in 1811, they founded Maison Perrier-Jouët: it was born of their desire to create a distinct champagne house.

The founders' passion for art, nature and Champagne has been handed down from generation to generation. Their son Charles Perrier, a botanist like his father, took over the house in 1848. The family's philosophy of creative freedom and unconventional observation of nature is an intrinsic part of the history of Champagne. These values continue to shape Maison Perrier-Jouët to this day.

Inspired by the graceful, sinuous shapes of nature, Art Nouveau flourished throughout Europe in the late 19th century. The fierceness and creative freedom of this movement paved the way for the avant-garde art of the 20th century. The ethos of Art Nouveau was to rediscover nature to enchant everyday life.

Maison Perrier-Jouët's affinity with the Art Nouveau movement is best expressed by the symbolic motif of the anemone, illustrated for the house in 1902 by Emile Gallé. Today, the house's enduring bond with art and nature translates into an extravagant world that rediscovers luxury as a meaningful experience thanks to artistic collaboration.

In October 2020, Séverine Frerson will become the eighth cellar master - and the first woman to hold this position - in the house's history.
