The Papalin brand focuses on unconventional rum blends, created by Luca Gargano. After the success of the first two editions, this brand presents a new rum from Haiti.
This edition is a blend of Haitian Clairins from several distilleries (Clairin Vaval, Sajous, Casimir, and Le Rocher) distilled in 2017 and rum made from sugarcane syrup at the Distillery de Port-au-Prince in 2018. The rums aged in barrels that previously held Caroni rum, Mount Gay rum, Buffalo Trace bourbon, and cognac.
The rum boldly transcends boundaries, yet its deep Haitian character reflects hints of sweet wine, fruit brandy, and Scotch single malt. This edition consists exclusively of pot still rums that aged for 4 years. The resulting rum was bottled at a strength of 53.1%.
Aroma: full and intoxicating, with notes of pineapple, freshly cut hay, vanilla, spices, paprika, iris, and dandelion.
Taste: concentrated and rich, with notes of warm sugarcane, night-blooming jasmine, muscovado, sweet licorice, and tobacco.
Finish: long and vibrant, with notes of rice porridge, camphor, mirabelles, cinnamon, and medicinal tones.
