Rum Opthimus 18 comes from the Dominican Republic. There the Cuban masters took care of maturing. It matured with the Solera system in ex-sherry oak barrels from rums up to 18 years old. The recipe for this rum has been sold from generation to generation for several decades. It is bottled at an alcoholic strength of 38 %. This creates a very delicious and delicate rum.
The rum is produced through traditional international cooperation: it is distilled by Cuban masters in the Dominican Republic - Oliver & Oliver - a family company of Cuban origin. Their philosophy is to create artisanal rums with intensity and elegance – each blend is carefully crafted and many are limited editions representing generations of rums.
Rum 18 Sistema Solera is highly acclaimed and has received more than 200 international awards, including the President's Trophy at the New York International Spirits Competition, Rum of the Year in Madrid, Top 10 at the Beverage Tasting Institute and others.
The aroma of the rum is rich and complex, with notes of oak, sherry, cane caramel, spice, vanilla, chocolate and subtle floral and herbal nuances. The taste is full, spicy and at the same time delicate, with hints of dried fruit, chocolate, vanilla, caramel and a subtle herbal depth. The finish is long-lasting, harmonious and balanced between sweetness, spice and oak.
