The producer of rum Opthimus is the company Oliver & Oliver Internacional, whose story dates back to the 19th century and combines Cuban heritage with Dominican tradition. The founder of the family, Juanillo Oliver, was a soldier in the Spanish army who settled in Cuba after leaving service in 1800. There, he established a farm and later a distillery, where he began producing rums and other spirits, laying the foundation for a future rum empire.

However, after the Cuban revolution, the entire production was nationalized, and the family lost their property. For many decades, the brand faded from public awareness until the descendants of the family – led by Pedro Ramón Oliver – revived the brand in the Dominican Republic. They combined Cuban know-how with high-quality local ingredients and the ideal Caribbean climate for aging rum. The result is the emergence of the craft brand Oliver & Oliver, which builds on traditional production methods but with a modern emphasis on quality and detail.

Today, Oliver & Oliver is known primarily for its Solera method, exceptionally long aging, and carefully blended blends. It produces several rum lines, such as Opthimus, Presidente, Ron Quorhum, and Exquisito, with many of their editions being limited and bottled by hand. The brand's philosophy emphasizes elegance, maturity, authenticity, and continuity of the original Cuban spirit. As a result, Oliver & Oliver rums enjoy worldwide recognition and are among the most sought-after Dominican rums in the premium category.
