MUJA Irish Whiskey AUSO Purple is part of the first artistic collaboration of the MUJA brand, which connects Irish whiskey, contemporary art, and distinctive design.
The name AUSO is derived from the Latin ausus – "dared". It refers to the courage to create, transform materials, and transcend traditional boundaries between whiskey and artistic objects.
The visual design of the collection is by Italian artist Giulia Poppi. Each decanter is individually handcrafted using colors, engravings, and other artistic interventions. The subtle differences between individual pieces are therefore an intentional part of the edition, making each decanter a unique collectible item.
The Purple version features a striking purple base, turquoise and pink details, and contrasting decor on the concrete elements of the decanter. The AUSO collection is available in two color variations, each with three variations that connect through graphics, symbols, and a fragmented Latin phrase.
The whiskey itself is identical across the AUSO collection. Its heart is 20-year-old Single Grain Irish Whiskey aged in ex-bourbon casks, complemented by 8 to 9-year-old Single Malt whiskeys from ex-sherry and ex-Marsala casks, and Single Pot Still whiskey from ex-bourbon casks.
The result is a silky smooth and complex whiskey with notes of vanilla, honey, toffee, dried fruit, and gentle spices. The finish is long and elegant, with roasted almonds and a soft oak character. The whiskey is triple distilled, unfiltered, and bottled at 46% alcohol by volume.
