Michter's US*1 Sour Mash
Michter's Sour Mash Whiskey was an incredibly popular drink in the 70s and 80s, although it disappeared from the market in recent years. However, it has returned in the form of Michter's US*1 Sour Mash Whiskey – amazing! Very well-balanced notes of sugared almonds, cinnamon spice, and vanilla sweetness.
Although the term "Sour Mash" comes from the eponymous whiskey production process, where a portion of previously fermented mash is used as a starter for a new mash to be fermented, similar to sourdough bread production, Michter's Original Sour Mash earned recognition for its unique flavor. Due to its unique grain selection, it cannot be classified as rye or bourbon.
After disappearing from the market in 1989, Michter's Original Sour Mash whiskey triumphantly returned in 2012 with the introduction of the US*1 line. By staying true to the profile and flavor of its predecessor, Michter's US*1 Sour Mash quickly became a favorite among whiskey enthusiasts.
