Michter's US*1 American Whiskey
This Michter's US*1 whiskey from Michter's Distiller in Louisville, Kentucky, is matured in barrels that previously held bourbon. This drink can't be called bourbon, as it has to be aged in new American oak barrels - hence it's called whiskey instead.
Unlike bourbon or rye whiskey, whiskey/bourbon-soaked barrels are used for aging to achieve a rich and unique flavor profile.
In late 2013, then Master Distiller - Willie Pratt agreed to re-launch our Michter's US*1 after an absence of almost three years, deeming it "just right" and "the best it's ever been". Importantly, Michter's US*1 American Whiskey contains no grain neutral spirits - hence the "unblended" designation .
The whiskey is full of deep notes of butter and vanilla, hints of caramel and dried fruit with a finish of ripe fruit.
