BVD Borovička is referred to as the first Slovak borovička – distillate, which builds on the rich history of producing this traditional beverage. Borovička, as a folk alcoholic drink, is an integral part of Slovak cultural heritage and is among the iconic products of the domestic distilling tradition. It symbolizes hospitality, celebrations, and regional identity that has developed over centuries.
Although many written records from the past have been irretrievably lost, from the preserved sources we know that the production of borovička in the territory of present-day Slovakia began as early as the beginning of the 19th century, specifically in the region of present-day Spiš. It was there that the first production methods and traditions of processing juniper gradually formed. BVD Borovička thus connects to historical heritage and preserves the character typical of this type of distillate.
Borovička is known for its distinctive juniper aroma, fresh herbal profile, and subtly spicy undertone. The taste is clean, straightforward, and harmonious, with a pleasant warmth in the finish. Lovers of traditional Slovak products will appreciate it similarly to other drinks in the distillates category or aromatic products like gin, where the character of juniper dominates.
BVD Borovička has its firm place at family gatherings, folklore events, and official occasions. It tastes best well chilled, served neat, to highlight its traditional flavor and aroma.
