Clés des Ducs VS
Armagnac Clés des Ducs VS (40 % ABV) is the introductory staple of the prestigious Clés des Ducs family from the Bas-Armagnac region. This young Armagnac embodies purity and fruity freshness, ideal for everyday drinking or mixing in cocktails. The brand's symbolism, the ‘Keys of the Dukes’, recalls the historical roots of the region, where traditional ‘eaux-de-vie’ are produced with an emphasis on craftsmanship and quality.
The distillate is mainly produced from Ugni Blanc grapes from vineyards around the villages of Panjas, Maupas and Estang, grown on sandy soils typical of Bas-Armagnac. They use copper column and traditional distillation methods, with the VS (Very Special) variant aged in Limousin oak barrels for at least two years – exactly the minimum required for this category. The barrels are lightly toasted to bring out the fruit and floral notes of the distillate.
Clés des Ducs VS captivates with its light amber colour and pleasantly dry yet complex taste. The aroma combines notes of dried fruit, raisins, plums, tobacco, cocoa, floral and honey accents. The palate reveals a fresh, fruity taste – juicy raisins, pear, dried fruit – complemented by a subtle spicy and cocoa background, finishing with a delicately dry tannin finish.
The family heritage of Clés des Ducs goes back deep into the traditions of Bas-Armagnac, where the craft of distillation has been practised since the 15th century. The company maintains a slow distillation and gentle ageing process to preserve the authentic fruity and floral characteristics. The result is a young yet distinctive Armagnac – ideal for everyday enjoyment or as a quality gift.
