Bumbu is a blended rum made according to the original recipe of sailors from the West Indies from the 16 and 17th centuries, who mixed typical Caribbean fruits and spices into their rum. The result is a nut-brown rum, with the aroma of tropical fruits and flowers, and a spicy-fruity taste.
The modern processing of this blend in the form of Bumbu rum consists of spices and sugarcane from 8 countries – Barbados, Belize, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guyana, and Honduras. Bumbu rum is distilled in Barbados. It ages in ex-bourbon barrels, and its oldest component ages an impressive 15 years.
