Bulleit Rye is produced in small batches, with a ratio of 95 percent rye and 5 percent malted barley. This absolutely exquisite rye whiskey won a double gold medal at the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Aroma: A big burst of cherries and vanilla, with subtle notes of leather and tobacco.
Taste: Initially quite spicy, as the pepper comes to the forefront. Then peaches, more cherries, and a hint of orange peel follow.
Finish: A smoky finish brought by cinnamon, allspice, and a hint of candy.
Overall impression: Bulleit Distillery really knows how to make rye whiskey.
