Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2012
Bruichladdich Port Charlotte Islay Barley 2012 is a hard peat single malt whiskey. It was distilled in 2012 exclusively from local barley grown on the Scottish island of Islay. This barley is a mixture of 4 different varieties (Oxbridge, Publican, Propino and Concerto) and comes from 8 different local farmers. Whiskey matured from 75% in first-filled barrels after bourbon and 25% in second-filled barrels after wine. It has a beautifully balanced character revealing fruity aromas and a gentle influence of the barrels on the taste, in which you feel like peat smoke gently supports light and sweet tones.
Aroma : introductory fresh tones of sea breeze, lemon peel, green apples and pears, accompanied by a floral scent of geranium, sea rose, gooseberries, creamy coconut and chocolate. It continues with peat smoke, burnt skin, apricots, a hint of vanilla and baked malt.
Taste : light and sweet, mildly honey, vanilla, milk chocolate, a hint of cedar wood, black pepper, earthy smoke, apricots, mint and tones of salt
Conclusion : coconut and peat smoke, hints of almonds and geraniums
