Bowmore is one of the oldest and most significant distilleries in Scotland. Its history dates back to the second half of the 18th century when a distillery was established on the island of Islay, with its first official mention coming in 1779. Bowmore is considered the first licensed distillery on the island of Islay and continues to play a key role in the history of Scottish single malt whisky.

The distillery is located on the shores of Lochindaal, a sea loch that flows into the rugged Atlantic Ocean. Traditional Production and Unique Maturation

Bowmore boasts one of the greatest rarities in the world of whisky – the oldest whisky maturation warehouse in the world, known as No. 1 Vaults. This historic warehouse, sunk deep below sea level, has been maturing whisky for over 240 years. The stable temperature and humidity create ideal conditions for slow and balanced maturation.
