Project by La Maison & Velier

The brand is backed by La Maison & Velier, a joint project of the French company La Maison du Whisky and the Italian expert in premium spirits Velier. The collaboration combines expertise in selecting, aging, and launching rums from both traditional and lesser-known rum regions.

Shakara was created to bring the character of aged spirits from Thailand closer to rum lovers. It is not about imitating Caribbean styles, but rather emphasizing the qualities that local sugarcane, production methods, and the intense tropical climate bring to the rum.

Shakara rums are produced through column distillation and then aged in bourbon barrels directly in the hot Thai climate. The intense contact of the distillate with wood promotes the development of fruity, spicy, caramel, nutty, and oak tones.
