Vasco Núnez de Balboa was a Spanish explorer, governor and conqueror. In 1513 he crossed Panama from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean, becoming the first European to see and reach the Pacific Ocean. The term "Espero" means "hope" in old Spanish slang, and it was this hope of discovering the new that drove Vasco Núñez de Balboa's New World travels.
The rum is named after this great maritime icon Vasco Núñez de Balboa. Ron Espero are blends of various rums from the Dominican Republic and Barbados. They are aged in ex-bourbon barrels in the Caribbean, but also in filled old French oak barrels left over from Nicaraguan very old rums.
Most recently, the brand won the "VIENNA RUM FESTIVAL 2022" rum exhibition . They won a gold medal for their product Espero Coconut & Rum.
